Early thoughts on my internship

Hello fellow interns! My name is Deanne and I am completing an internship this semester at Mitinet Library Services. I, along with four others from different universities are cataloging interns. We will be creating metadata for K-12 materials. Yesterday, we had our first conference call with Tom, our site manager. We introduced ourselves and discussed learning outcomes and training. We also talked about the required position paper we are writing about a topic regarding metadata. After the meeting, I emailed Tom my learning outcomes and set up times to start training on the required software and for weekly meetings. Next Monday I have a training session to learn how to use MARC Magician, the software we will use to create MARC records.  In addition to enhancing my cataloging and metadata creation knowledge, I also hope to gain some much needed real-world library experience before I graduate in the spring. I look forward to hearing about all of your internship experiences and hopefully sharing success stories.
